Rosa "Sai" Salangsang

Back in Fall 2022, I was one of the students who was assigned to make a web banner for Issue 31 of an online digital art journal called "Switch". With the color scheme and text font I was given, I made two prototypes. For this draft, I was inspired by the concept of an enso circle. Enso often represent the connetion of all existence and the cycle of life. In Buddhist culture, many artists would draw enso as a meditative practice. To draw an enso, you let go of your mind and let your body create a circle in one stroke. No circle is perfect and that's the beauty of it. In the context of "Switch", this enso is a reference to the connectedness of the artist community. It is also left open, which symbolizes the beauty of imprefection. It is also a reference to how we are always open to new ideas and ways to improve our craft. Although neither of these drafts made the final cut, I've had fun making them. If I were to do anything different about both prototypes, I would remove the glowing effect of the text and adjust its kerning.
